NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has firmly denied reports circulating on social media and messaging platforms regarding an alleged leak of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination question paper. The agency described the claims as false, fraudulent and misleading, warning that strict legal action would be taken against individuals and groups spreading misinformation ahead of the crucial examination scheduled for June 21.
In an official statement issued on Saturday, the NTA clarified that no unauthorized person has access to the question paper and that reports suggesting the paper is being sold or distributed before the examination are entirely baseless. The agency urged candidates and parents not to fall prey to rumours being circulated through social media posts, Telegram channels and other online platforms.
The clarification comes amid heightened sensitivity surrounding the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination. The original NEET-UG examination conducted on May 3 was cancelled following allegations of a paper leak, prompting authorities to order a fresh examination and launch investigations into the matter. The re-test is now scheduled to be held on June 21 under enhanced security arrangements.
According to the NTA, several messages and posts have recently surfaced online claiming that candidates can obtain the question paper in advance by paying money through unofficial channels. The agency stressed that such claims are fabricated attempts to mislead students and exploit their anxiety ahead of the examination. Officials reiterated that all examination materials remain secure and protected through established protocols.
The agency also noted that any person found creating, promoting or sharing false information related to the examination process could face legal consequences. Authorities have indicated that they are monitoring suspicious online activities and coordinating with relevant agencies to identify those responsible for spreading fake content.
Recent reports suggested that certain Telegram groups and social media accounts were claiming to offer access to the re-examination paper for a fee. Following complaints from users, the NTA referred these claims to cybercrime authorities for verification and further action. The agency maintained that no evidence has emerged to support the allegations and that candidates should avoid engaging with such groups.
Reassuring aspirants, the NTA stated that it remains committed to conducting a fair, transparent and secure examination. Officials emphasized that multiple safeguards have been put in place to ensure the integrity of the June 21 test. The agency said every stage of the examination process is being closely monitored and that all necessary precautions have been implemented to prevent irregularities.
The issue has attracted widespread public attention because the re-examination follows the cancellation of the earlier test amid concerns over exam security. The controversy affected lakhs of medical aspirants across the country and led to demands for stronger safeguards in the conduct of national-level entrance examinations.
Meanwhile, preparations for the re-exam are continuing. The NTA is expected to release city intimation slips and admit cards ahead of the examination date. Candidates have been advised to regularly check official NTA platforms for authentic updates and instructions related to the test.
The agency has once again appealed to students to remain focused on their preparation and ignore unverified claims circulating online. Stressing that examination integrity remains intact, the NTA said all aspirants will receive a fair opportunity to compete and that rumours should not distract them from their academic goals.
