The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi, is set to host KAUMARACON 2026, an international conference dedicated to Kaumarabhritya, the paediatric speciality of Ayurveda, from October 15 to 17. The three-day event will bring together leading experts, researchers, academicians, healthcare practitioners and students to discuss emerging developments in child healthcare, traditional medicine and evidence-based clinical practices.
The inaugural ceremony on October 15 will be attended by Vice President of India C. P. Radhakrishnan as the chief guest. Prataprao Jadhav, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of AYUSH and Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, will participate as the guest of honour.
Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of AYUSH, and Dr. Maneesha Upendra Kothekar, Chairperson of the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), are also expected to attend the inaugural programme.
The conference will take place at AIIA’s Sarita Vihar campus in New Delhi and will focus on strengthening scientific discussions, research collaborations and specialised Ayurvedic approaches to children’s health.
KAUMARACON 2026 to Spotlight Ayurveda-Based Child Healthcare
Kaumarabhritya is a specialised branch of Ayurveda that addresses children’s health, growth and development, nutrition, immunity, mental well-being and the management of childhood illnesses. KAUMARACON 2026 aims to create a platform for sharing research findings, clinical experiences and innovative approaches in Ayurvedic paediatrics.
According to the organisers, the third edition of the conference is expected to attract more than 500 participants from across India, including senior specialists, teachers, practising physicians, postgraduate scholars and students. International experts from Brazil, the United States, Germany, Sri Lanka and Nepal are also expected to join the discussions online.
The programme will include a pre-conference workshop on computer-aided drug design, known as Ayurinformatics, and diagnostic approaches in paediatrics. Participants will also attend an oration lecture, six scientific sessions, including one featuring international experts, and 12 parallel sessions.
More than 175 scientific papers are scheduled for presentation, providing opportunities to examine research developments, discuss clinical observations and explore interdisciplinary cooperation in child healthcare.
The conference seeks to encourage scientific scrutiny and knowledge exchange while examining how traditional Ayurvedic practices can contribute to comprehensive paediatric healthcare.
AIIA Strengthens Specialised Paediatric Services
The Department of Kaumarabhritya at AIIA provides a range of services for children, including outpatient and inpatient treatment, newborn care, vaccination, mental healthcare and skin-related services. Its facilities include a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and a specialised outpatient service for paediatric cancer care.

The department reportedly attends to approximately 120–150 children daily through its outpatient services, reflecting the demand for specialised paediatric consultations.
Another key facility is the KINDER Lab, or Kaumarabhritya Initiative for Neurology, Dermatology, Respiratory and related areas. The laboratory supports specialised diagnostic assessments and research in paediatric healthcare.
Prof. Dr. Rajagopala S., Head of the Department of Kaumarabhritya at AIIA and organising chairman of KAUMARACON 2026, emphasised that children’s health is central to building a healthier society.
He said the conference would provide an opportunity for professionals working in Ayurveda paediatrics to exchange scientific knowledge, present research outcomes and develop collaborations. The discussions will cover multiple dimensions of child health, from nutrition and immunity to physical development, mental well-being and disease management.
AIIA Marks Institutional Progress in Education and Research
The conference also highlights the institute’s expanding role in Ayurveda education, clinical services and scientific research.
According to AIIA Director Prof. (Vaidya) P. K. Prajapati, the institute was conceptualised in 2002 and dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2017. It is now entering its tenth year of institutional development.
Prajapati noted that AIIA has expanded its teaching, patient care and research activities over the years. The New Delhi campus has more than 200 inpatient beds and advanced diagnostic facilities, while the establishment of AIIA Goa in 2022 further extended the institute’s institutional presence.

AIIA is affiliated with the University of Delhi for postgraduate education and PhD research programmes and holds NAAC A++ accreditation. Its New Delhi hospital is also accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH).
The institute undertakes academic, intramural, extramural and industry-sponsored research projects and publishes three research journals, contributing to the development of Ayurveda research and clinical knowledge.
Prajapati said KAUMARACON 2026 reflects the institute’s commitment to advancing specialised Ayurvedic healthcare, particularly in paediatrics.
AIIA Foundation Day Celebrations on October 17
The three-day programme will conclude on October 17 with AIIA’s Foundation Day celebrations, commemorating the institute’s development and contributions to Ayurveda education, healthcare and research.
Faculty members, students, researchers, practitioners and invited guests will participate in the programme, which will review the institute’s achievements and consider its future priorities.
By combining an international scientific conference with its Foundation Day observance, AIIA aims to strengthen professional collaboration and highlight the importance of specialised child healthcare.
KAUMARACON 2026 is expected to provide a platform for further discussions on research-led Ayurveda practices, clinical innovation and the responsible integration of traditional medical knowledge into comprehensive healthcare strategies for children.
