The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) has achieved a significant milestone in advancing Ayurvedic paediatric healthcare, research and international academic collaboration through two important partnerships announced during KAUMARACON 2026 in New Delhi.
AIIA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth (RAV), under the Ministry of Ayush, recognising its Department of Kaumarbhritya at AIIA Delhi and Goa as a Centre of Excellence for RAV. The collaboration aims to strengthen Ayurveda-based child healthcare through standardised clinical practices, specialised training, research and capacity-building initiatives.
In a separate international development, AIIA Goa signed an MoU with Maharishi International University (MIU), located in Fairfield, Iowa, United States, to establish an Academic Chair in Ayurveda within MIU’s Department of Physiology and Health.
Together, the agreements represent a major step towards strengthening traditional Indian medical knowledge, improving research standards and expanding the international reach of Ayurveda.
AIIA Recognised as Centre of Excellence in Ayurvedic Paediatrics
The agreement with RAV focuses on developing standard operating procedures (SOPs), professional training and research in Kaumarbhritya, the Ayurvedic speciality concerned with child health and paediatric care.

The partnership will also promote intellectual property rights awareness, policy research and professional capacity building. Special attention will be given to Swarnaprashan and related areas of Balroga, the Ayurvedic discipline dealing with childhood diseases.
Through this collaboration, both institutions intend to create structured frameworks that support consistent practices, improve professional competencies and encourage evidence-based research in Ayurvedic paediatrics.
The recognition of AIIA’s departments in Delhi and Goa is expected to strengthen their role in specialised education, knowledge development and the dissemination of best practices in this field.
Swarnaprashan Standardisation to Be a Key Priority
A major objective of the MoU is the joint development of a standard operating procedure for Swarnaprashan Samskar through expert consultations involving AIIA’s centres in New Delhi and Goa.
The proposed framework will address important aspects of the practice, including formulation standardisation, preparation methods, administration procedures and age- and strength-appropriate dosage considerations.
The initiative will also emphasise quality control, safety assessment, proper documentation, monitoring and awareness among parents and caregivers.

The institutions plan to undertake laboratory and clinical research into the safety and efficacy of Swarnaprashan, subject to feasibility, ethical requirements and the necessary regulatory approvals.
The collaboration further provides for joint scientific publications, training programmes and professional capacity-building activities. RAV will contribute to technical discussions and support the dissemination of the resulting SOP among relevant stakeholders in India and internationally.
The initiative aims to establish a more structured approach to Swarnaprashan through expert guidance and research, while ensuring that safety and appropriate oversight remain central to its development.
PRAYAS Centre Strengthens Multidisciplinary Child Rehabilitation
AIIA Goa has also developed PRAYAS, an integrated paediatric neurorehabilitation centre that brings together Ayurveda and modern therapeutic expertise to support children with neurodevelopmental conditions.
The centre follows a multidisciplinary model, combining a specialised paediatric Panchakarma unit with Ayurveda paediatricians, a modern paediatrician, occupational therapists, speech therapists, physiotherapists, Yoga professionals and an Ayurveda diet expert from Swasthavritta.
Under the proposed collaboration, the expertise and infrastructure associated with this model will support further training and capacity building in partnership with RAV.
PRAYAS provides coordinated care for children with conditions such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), cerebral palsy (CP), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and other neurodevelopmental challenges.
Its approach brings different professional disciplines together to address individual needs, with the broader objective of supporting daily functioning, participation and quality of life.
The centre’s integrated framework also creates opportunities for professional learning and collaboration across traditional and contemporary healthcare disciplines.
AIIA Goa and US University Establish International Ayurveda Academic Chair
In another significant development, AIIA Goa and Maharishi International University signed an international MoU to establish an Academic Chair in Ayurveda within MIU’s Department of Physiology and Health.
The partnership is designed to expand academic engagement with Ayurveda in the United States through teaching, research and structured educational programmes.
The proposed Chair will support curriculum development, short- and medium-term courses, workshops, seminars and conferences focused on Ayurveda. It will also explore collaborative research projects and the dissemination of research findings.
Promoting the safe use of Ayurveda in the United States is another key element of the agreement. Provisions for protecting intellectual property generated through joint activities have also been included.
The collaboration is expected to provide a platform for academic exchange and greater engagement between Indian Ayurvedic institutions and international researchers.
Strengthening Ayurveda Through Research and Global Collaboration
The two MoUs highlight AIIA’s efforts to advance specialised Ayurvedic education, develop research-oriented clinical practices and strengthen international academic partnerships.
While the agreement with RAV focuses on Ayurvedic paediatrics, Swarnaprashan standardisation and professional training, the partnership with MIU opens a new avenue for Ayurveda-related education and research in the United States.
By combining institutional cooperation, multidisciplinary healthcare and international knowledge exchange, the initiatives seek to support the continued development of Ayurveda within structured academic and research frameworks.
The agreements mark an important step in AIIA’s broader efforts to strengthen India’s traditional system of medicine through professional training, research collaboration and wider global engagement.
