Ayurveda is steadily emerging as a transformative force in the global health landscape, with growing emphasis on patient-centric care, scientific research, authentic health information and international collaboration, said Prof. (VD) P.K. Prajapati, Director, All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), on the occasion of the 11th Ayurveda Day.
Prof. Prajapati extended his greetings to people on National Ayurveda Day and said Ayurvedic products is increasingly contributing to the global health conversation in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “One Earth, One Health.” He said the focus of the Ayurveda Day campaign is to take the traditional Indian system of healthcare closer to people while strengthening its relevance through research, innovation and credible public information.
AIIA Puts Patients at the Centre
AIIA organised a month-long series of programmes across Delhi and Goa to mark the 11th Ayurveda Day. The activities included guest lectures, public lectures, awareness programmes and webinars, with a particular focus on health concerns affecting patients.
Prof. Prajapati said the programmes were designed around practical health issues faced by the public. Diabetes and osteoporosis were among the conditions highlighted through awareness initiatives, with discussions focusing on prevention, lifestyle and ways of addressing health-related concerns.
The institute also conducted programmes on nutrition, cosmetics, nutraceuticals and food products, reflecting growing public interest in health and wellness.
‘Ayur Pravah’ Promotes Awareness on Cosmetics and Nutrition
A six-day initiative titled ‘Ayur Pravah’ was organised to create greater awareness about cosmetics and related products from both Ayurvedic and modern perspectives.
The programme sought to provide information in areas where consumers are increasingly seeking guidance, particularly concerning cosmetics, food products and nutraceuticals. A separate nutrition-focused initiative was also conducted under ‘Poshan Maa’, while cleanliness activities and workshops during Hindi Fortnight formed part of the broader Day programme.
Prof. Prajapati said these initiatives were intended to provide useful information to the public and strengthen awareness about healthy living.
Ayurveda and Medicinal Plant Conservation
The AIIA Director also underlined the close relationship between Ayurveda and medicinal plants. As part of its environmental initiatives, the institute plans to distribute around 10,000 Ashwagandha plants and undertake the plantation of approximately 21 medicinal plants in an Army area.
He said protecting Ayurvedic Medicines also requires protecting the plant resources that form an important part of the traditional system. According to him, medicinal plants have relevance not only for Ayurveda-based healthcare but also for maintaining the knowledge and resources associated with the system.
Research Partnerships Expand Through MoUs
AIIA has also been strengthening institutional collaborations through several MoUs, Prof. Prajapati said.

During the Ayurveda Day initiatives, the institute entered into collaborations with various partners, including Karma Ayurveda and DPSAR University, particularly with a focus on pharmaceutical research. An existing partnership with an IIT has also been renewed, while another MoU with Maharishi Ayurveda’s US-based company is being taken forward.
He said such partnerships are intended to create greater opportunities for students, researchers and young professionals by providing them with exposure to research, innovation and industry-linked work.
AI and Digital Platforms Support
Prof. Prajapati highlighted the growing importance of digital technology in Ayurvedic education and public outreach.
AIIA has organised lectures on emerging AI-generated tools and is exploring ways to use digital platforms for wider dissemination of reliable information. He noted that while the internet has made health information more accessible, determining whether information is authentic and scientifically appropriate can be challenging for the public.

Against this backdrop, the institute is working to provide credible Ayurveda-related information through appropriate digital channels.
‘Ayurvarta’ Launched to Provide Authentic Information
As part of the 11th Ayurveda Day initiatives, AIIA has launched ‘Ayurvarta’, a programme aimed at making authentic Ayurvedic information more accessible.
Prof. Prajapati said the initiative seeks to address the growing need for reliable information at a time when people are exposed to large volumes of health-related content online. The objective is to help people access information from credible sources rather than relying on unverified material.
International Outreach Gets Wider Platform
AIIA is also expanding its international engagement through its network of more than 22 MoU partners. Prof. Prajapati said the institute will organise two international webinars on September 28 and 29 as part of its International Ayurveda Day outreach.
The two-part format has been planned to accommodate participants across different time zones and facilitate wider international participation.
AIIA experts have also participated in programmes broadcast through platforms including Sansad TV, DD News and All India Radio, allowing Ayurveda-related discussions to reach a broader audience.
Focus on Healthier Tomorrow
Prof. Prajapati said the central objective of the 11th Ayurveda Day is to strengthen public awareness, advance scientific research, expand collaborations and make authentic knowledge more accessible.
He said the vision of “Ayurveda for a Healthier Tomorrow” goes beyond promoting Ayurvedic medicines within India and includes contributing to a broader vision of healthier communities and a healthier world.
He expressed confidence that continued public engagement, research, digital innovation, environmental initiatives and international partnerships would help Ayurveda expand its contribution to the evolving global health landscape.
