In a significant step towards enhancing public healthcare infrastructure, the CERSAI (Central Registry of Securitisation Asset Reconstruction and Security Interest of India) has donated two state-of-the-art ANTERION Multi-Modal Imaging Platforms to the Department of Ophthalmology at Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC) and Safdarjung Hospital under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

The advanced ophthalmic imaging systems were formally handed over during an inauguration ceremony held at the hospital on Monday. The initiative aims to improve access to precision eye diagnostics and strengthen ophthalmology services at one of India’s largest government healthcare institutions.

Advanced Technology to Improve Eye Care

The newly installed ANTERION imaging platforms are designed for comprehensive anterior segment imaging of the eye. Equipped with high-resolution imaging capabilities, the systems enable ophthalmologists to perform detailed examinations of the cornea, lens, and anterior chamber.

The technology is expected to significantly improve the diagnosis and treatment planning for patients suffering from cataracts, glaucoma, corneal disorders, and other complex eye diseases. By providing highly accurate imaging, the platforms will support clinicians in making informed decisions while enhancing overall patient care.

Hospital officials believe the addition of these advanced diagnostic tools will reduce diagnostic delays and contribute to better treatment outcomes for thousands of patients who seek care at Safdarjung Hospital every year.

CERSAI Highlights Commitment to Public Healthcare

Speaking at the inauguration, Shri Umesh Kumar Singh, Central Registrar, Managing Director, and Chief Executive Officer of CERSAI, emphasized the organization’s commitment to strengthening healthcare through its CSR initiatives.

He said Corporate Social Responsibility serves as an important avenue for improving public healthcare infrastructure and expressed confidence that the advanced imaging systems would enhance the hospital’s ophthalmology services while expanding access to quality eye care for patients.

According to CERSAI, the initiative reflects its broader vision of contributing to social development by supporting institutions that provide essential healthcare services to large sections of the population.

Hospital Welcomes the CSR Initiative

Dr. Kavita Rani Sharma, Director of VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital, expressed gratitude to CERSAI for the generous contribution and acknowledged the organization’s commitment towards strengthening public healthcare facilities.

She stated that the ANTERION imaging platforms would considerably enhance the hospital’s diagnostic capabilities in ophthalmology. The advanced systems, she noted, will enable specialists to conduct more precise evaluations and deliver improved treatment for patients with various eye disorders.

She also highlighted the importance of partnerships between public institutions and socially responsible organizations in bridging technological gaps within government hospitals.

Boost for Ophthalmology Department

The Department of Ophthalmology at Safdarjung Hospital is expected to benefit substantially from the installation of the new imaging platforms.

With increasing patient volumes and a growing demand for specialized eye care, advanced diagnostic equipment plays a crucial role in ensuring timely and accurate diagnosis. The ANTERION systems provide detailed cross-sectional imaging of the eye’s anterior structures, assisting doctors in pre-surgical assessment, disease monitoring, and post-operative evaluation.

Medical experts say technologies such as these have become essential in modern ophthalmic practice, particularly for cataract surgery planning, corneal transplantation, glaucoma management, and refractive procedures.

The availability of such equipment in a public healthcare institution also improves access for economically weaker patients who may otherwise have limited opportunities to undergo advanced diagnostic evaluations.

Ceremony Attended by Senior Officials

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of senior officials from both CERSAI and VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital.

Among those attending were Dr. Charu Bamba, Medical Superintendent and Chairperson of the CSR Committee; Dr. Sangeeta Abrol, Head of the Department of Ophthalmology; members of the hospital’s CSR Committee; faculty members from the Department of Ophthalmology; senior hospital administrators; representatives of the CERSAI CSR team; and other invited guests.

The gathering highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts between government institutions and public sector organizations in improving healthcare infrastructure across the country.

CSR Initiatives Driving Better Healthcare Access

Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives have increasingly become an important source of support for India’s public healthcare system. Contributions involving advanced medical equipment help government hospitals adopt cutting-edge technologies without placing additional financial burdens on public resources.

Experts believe that investments in diagnostic infrastructure not only improve patient outcomes but also strengthen medical education and research within teaching hospitals like VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital.

The installation of the ANTERION imaging systems marks another step toward enhancing the quality of ophthalmic services available to patients and demonstrates how collaborative CSR efforts can contribute to improving healthcare delivery in India’s public hospitals.
