New Delhi: The Dakshin Delhi Kalibari is set to organise the third edition of its much-awaited Mango Festival from June 6 to June 14 at the Pranab Mukherjee Auditorium located within the Kalibari premises in South Delhi’s Rama Krishna Puram.

The nine-day festival, which has become popular among mango lovers in the Delhi-NCR region, will remain open daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Organisers said the event aims to bring the authentic taste of Bengal’s famous mangoes directly to residents of the national capital.

According to the organisers, the Dakshin Delhi Mango Festival was the first privately organised mango fair in Delhi-NCR when it was launched two years ago at the South Delhi Kalibari premises. While the Government of West Bengal annually hosts a mango fair at Handloom Market, Janpath through its Horticulture Department, the Kalibari initiative marked the beginning of a community-driven private mango festival in the region.

Encouraged by the overwhelming response received during the previous editions, the organisers are expecting a larger turnout this year. Visitors will get the opportunity to purchase naturally ripened, carbide-free mangoes sourced directly from orchards in Malda district of West Bengal, a region known for producing some of India’s finest mango varieties.

The festival will showcase nearly fifteen renowned varieties of Bengal mangoes. Popular names such as Himsagar, Langra, Amrapali, Fazli, Mallika, Gopalbhog, Lakshman Bhog, Kishan Bhog, Amrit Bhog and Totapuri will be available for visitors. One of the major attractions of this year’s festival will once again be the famous Alphonso mangoes, which continue to remain a favourite among fruit enthusiasts.

Apart from fresh mangoes, the fair will also offer a range of mango-based products including traditional Aam Satta (mango leather) and several varieties of mango pickles. Organisers believe these additions will give visitors a broader experience of Bengal’s mango culture and traditional flavours.

The venue for the event, South Delhi Kalibari, is located beside Malai Mandir in Sector 7 of Rama Krishna Puram. The organisers said the location is easily accessible through multiple metro routes. The nearest stations include Munirka and Vasant Vihar on the Magenta Line, and Moti Bagh on the Pink Line. Buses and auto-rickshaws are also readily available from nearby metro stations for convenient travel.

Entry to the festival has been kept free for all visitors.

Ajay Pal, Convenor of the event, said the objective of the festival is to promote Bengal’s rich mango heritage while ensuring that people in Delhi receive fresh and naturally ripened fruits directly from farmers and orchards.

Organising Secretary Sanjib Mondal said the festival has received tremendous public support over the last two years and the organisers are hopeful that this year’s edition will attract even more visitors from across Delhi-NCR.

The organisers have invited residents and mango enthusiasts to visit the festival and enjoy the authentic taste of premium Bengali mangoes during the summer season.
