HYDERABAD: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday carried out extensive searches at properties linked to Roads and Buildings (R&B) Engineer-in-Chief J. Mohan Naik as part of an investigation into an alleged disproportionate assets case. The raids were conducted at his residence in Madhapur and several other locations associated with him, family members, and close associates.
According to officials, the searches were launched following information suggesting that the senior government engineer may have accumulated assets beyond his known sources of income. Multiple ACB teams simultaneously inspected properties linked to Naik and examined documents, financial records, property papers, and other materials relevant to the investigation.
Sources indicated that the raids covered around a dozen locations across Hyderabad and nearby areas. Investigators are scrutinizing land holdings, residential properties, investments, bank accounts, and alleged business interests connected to the officer and his relatives. The operation began early in the day and continued for several hours as officials gathered evidence.
Videos circulating on social media showed ACB officials entering and searching Naik’s residence in Madhapur. The visuals quickly attracted public attention, with many following developments in what has become one of the most high-profile anti-corruption investigations involving a senior state engineering official in recent months.
Investigators are also looking into allegations that Naik may have favoured certain contractors and companies in the awarding of public works contracts. Authorities are examining records related to infrastructure projects handled by the Roads and Buildings Department to determine whether any irregularities occurred during the execution or allocation of contracts.
The ACB has not yet disclosed the total value of assets identified during the ongoing searches. Officials stated that a detailed assessment will be carried out after verification of all documents and records recovered during the operation. Further action will depend on the findings of the investigation and the extent of evidence collected.
Mohan Naik currently serves as Engineer-in-Chief (State Roads) in Telangana’s Roads and Buildings Department, a key position responsible for overseeing major road infrastructure projects across the state.
The latest operation reflects the Telangana ACB’s continued efforts to investigate allegations of corruption and illicit wealth accumulation among public servants. In recent years, the agency has conducted several high-profile raids and disproportionate assets investigations involving government officials from different departments.
The investigation remains underway, and authorities are expected to release additional details once the scrutiny of seized documents and assets is completed. Officials have not ruled out further searches or questioning as the case progresses.
