NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday asserted that India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047 will be driven by its young population, describing youth empowerment as the central pillar of the Viksit Bharat mission.

Addressing beneficiaries during the incentive distribution programme under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, he said every opportunity created for young Indians is an investment in the nation’s future.

Youth at the heart of Viksit Bharat

PM Modi said India’s demographic strength is its greatest advantage and the country’s young generation will determine the pace of its development in the coming decades.

He emphasised that the government is working to transform the aspirations of young people into tangible opportunities through employment generation, skill development and entrepreneurship. “The dreams of our youth are the foundation upon which Viksit Bharat will be built,” PM Modi said.

He added that the government is committed to ensuring that every young citizen receives opportunities to contribute to the country’s growth story.

Employment generation emerging as a national mission

The Prime Minister said employment creation has become one of the government’s biggest priorities.

He highlighted that the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana is helping first-time employees enter the formal workforce while simultaneously supporting industries that create jobs.

According to him, the scheme represents a partnership between the government, businesses and youth to strengthen India’s economic future.

He said the incentives being provided are not merely financial benefits but symbols of confidence in India’s next generation. “This support is not just assistance; it is a reflection of the nation’s trust in your abilities and your future,” he said.

Building an economy for the future

PM Modi stressed that India is preparing itself for emerging global opportunities rather than relying solely on traditional sectors. He said the country is investing heavily in industries that will define the next phase of economic growth, including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, green energy, biotechnology, drone technology and advanced manufacturing.

He added that India aims to become a leader in future technologies instead of remaining a follower. “The world is preparing for the economy of tomorrow, and India is preparing to lead it,” PM Modi remarked.

Infrastructure development creating opportunities

The Prime Minister said unprecedented investments in infrastructure are laying the groundwork for sustained economic growth. Roads, railways, airports, logistics parks and digital connectivity projects are generating millions of direct and indirect employment opportunities across the country.

He said these investments are helping bridge the gap between urban and rural India while boosting industrial productivity. According to him, strong infrastructure will remain one of the biggest pillars of Viksit Bharat.

India’s startup ecosystem gaining global recognition

PM Modi highlighted India’s emergence as one of the world’s leading startup ecosystems. He said innovation is no longer confined to major cities and is increasingly coming from smaller towns and districts.

Young entrepreneurs, he said, are becoming problem-solvers who can create jobs and drive economic transformation. He encouraged the youth to think beyond conventional careers and become creators of opportunities.

Quality must become India’s identity

The Prime Minister also underlined the importance of quality across all sectors. He said India must focus on improving educational standards, skill development, products and services to strengthen its global competitiveness.

“Quality of education, quality of skills, quality of services and quality of products must become India’s identity,” he said. He added that world-class standards will help India establish itself as a trusted global partner.

Collective effort towards 2047

PM Modi said achieving the Viksit Bharat target by 2047 cannot be accomplished by the government alone. He urged citizens, industries, educational institutions and young people to work together to build a stronger nation.

He also encouraged the youth to remain resilient and continue striving even in the face of setbacks. “Your dreams are Modi’s resolve. Every step you take towards success becomes an inspiration for the nation,” he said.

Concluding his address, PM Modi expressed confidence that the generation of young Indians alive today will not only witness the transformation of the country but will actively shape its future. He said that with collective effort, innovation and determination, India is fully capable of achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
