Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday strongly praised the valour of India’s armed forces during Operation Sindoor, saying the military operation delivered a powerful global message that India would go to any extent to protect its citizens and defend the dignity symbolised by sindoor.

Addressing the ‘Sindoor Maharaktadan Yatra’ Blood Donation Camp at Base Hospital, Delhi Cantonment, Singh said Operation Sindoor reflected the courage, determination and sacrifice of India’s defence personnel. He also praised the armed forces for taking decisive action against terrorists and their handlers based in Pakistan.

Operation Sindoor Sent Strong Global Message

Rajnath Singh said Operation Sindoor demonstrated the “unmatched valour” of India’s defence forces and established the country’s resolve to protect its citizens against threats.

According to the Defence Minister, the operation showed that India would not remain passive when its national security and citizens were threatened. He said the action against terrorists and their handlers conveyed a clear warning to those attempting to cast an “evil eye” on India.

Singh’s remarks came during a blood donation programme that sought to connect the spirit of national defence with humanitarian service.

From Military Valour To Compassion Through Blood Donation

Drawing a comparison between Operation Sindoor and the Sindoor Maharaktadan Yatra, Singh said the military operation represented courage, while the blood donation campaign represented compassion.

The event brought together voluntary donors, athletes and wrestlers in support of the armed forces. Participants from Maharashtra also joined the initiative, highlighting the importance of community participation in humanitarian causes.

Singh thanked the donors and expressed confidence that the blood collected during the campaign would create an important reserve for soldiers and their families requiring medical treatment in the future.

Rajnath Singh Calls Blood Donation ‘Jivandan’ And ‘Mahadan’

The Defence Minister described blood donation as “Jivandan” and “Mahadan”, underlining its life-saving importance.

He noted that despite major advances in medical science, there is still no artificial substitute that can completely replace human blood. Since blood is produced naturally by the human body, voluntary donors remain essential to meeting emergency medical requirements.

Singh urged citizens to understand the importance of regular blood donation and encouraged young people in particular to make it part of their social responsibility.

He said both the person donating blood and the person receiving it contribute to the service of the nation in their own ways.

Youth Urged To Build A Culture Of Blood Donation

Singh called upon India’s youth to transform blood donation into a culture of compassion and public service.

Looking towards 2047, when India will mark 100 years of independence, he said the country’s vision should go beyond becoming a developed economy.

According to Singh, India should also aspire to become a compassionate society where citizens remain healthy and secure and essential resources such as blood are readily available during emergencies.

He emphasised that a stronger society is built not only through economic progress but also through people helping one another during moments of crisis.

Rajnath Singh Links Fitness With National Service

The Defence Minister also stressed the importance of physical fitness among young Indians.

He said healthy and fit citizens are better equipped to contribute to society and participate in noble initiatives such as voluntary blood donation.

Rajnath Singh highlighted government programmes including Khelo India and Fit India, saying these initiatives are encouraging young people to make fitness an integral part of their daily lives.

Rajnath Singh suggested that physical strength should ultimately be used for a larger purpose—protecting others, serving society and strengthening the nation.

Maharashtra’s Legacy Of Valour And Compassion Highlighted

Rajnath Singh also highlighted Maharashtra’s historic tradition of courage and public service.

Referring to the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, he said his ideals continue to inspire generations. The Defence Minister stressed that the real purpose of strength is not merely individual achievement but the ability to protect others and serve the country.

He praised the wrestlers and athletes from Maharashtra who participated in the blood donation initiative, describing their contribution as an example of noble national service.

Armed Forces Need Reliable Blood Reserves

The Armed Forces Medical Services have a particular need for adequate blood reserves because military hospitals deal with routine medical care as well as operational injuries, trauma cases and emergency situations.

The voluntary blood donation campaign reinforced the armed forces’ core philosophy of “Service Before Self” and demonstrated how ordinary citizens can make a direct contribution to saving lives.

The programme was attended by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Minister of State for Ayush Pratap Rao Jadhav, Maharashtra Industries Minister Uday Ravindra Samant, Member of Parliament Dr Srikant Lata Eknath Shinde, Chief of the Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth, DG Armed Forces Medical Services Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, Adjutant General Lt Gen VPS Kaushik and other senior military and civil officials.

Base Hospital, Delhi Cantonment Commandant Maj Gen Vishal Chaudhary was also present.

Operation Sindoor And Sindoor Maharaktadan Yatra Share A Message

The Defence Minister’s address ultimately connected two distinct forms of national service.

Operation Sindoor, Rajnath Singh said, represented the courage of soldiers defending the country, while the blood donation campaign represented citizens saving lives through compassion.

Together, the two initiatives conveyed a broader message of national solidarity—India’s strength lies not only in its defence capabilities but also in the willingness of its citizens to stand with one another when lives and national security are at stake.
