NEW DELHI: Niva Bupa Health Insurance has announced its partnership as the Official Health Insurance Principal Partner of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, marking a significant step in its efforts to promote health awareness, recovery, and resilience through sports. Alongside the announcement, the company also launched a nationwide campaign titled ‘Setback se Comeback Tak’, highlighting inspiring stories of recovery from health challenges and the determination to return stronger.

The campaign features two of India’s most accomplished athletes—Olympic medallists Saina Nehwal and Mirabai Chanu—who share their experiences of overcoming setbacks during their sporting careers. Through their journeys, Niva Bupa aims to encourage people to view recovery as a powerful step toward rebuilding confidence and achieving new milestones.

Campaign Celebrates Recovery Beyond the Sporting Arena

The newly launched campaign focuses on the idea that every successful comeback starts with resilience, discipline, and the right support system. While sporting achievements often receive public recognition, the company said the real journey begins long before athletes step onto the podium.

Drawing a parallel with everyday life, Niva Bupa emphasized that millions of Indians display similar courage while recovering from illnesses, accidents, surgeries, and other medical conditions. Whether it is returning to work after a cardiac procedure, regaining mobility following orthopaedic treatment, or rebuilding life after an accident, each recovery journey represents a personal victory.

The campaign seeks to celebrate these stories and inspire people to prepare for health challenges with confidence rather than fear.

Saina Nehwal and Mirabai Chanu Lead the Initiative

Olympic medallist and former World No. 1 badminton player Saina Nehwal is one of the central faces of the campaign. Reflecting on her own career, she said that while fans remember victories and medals, athletes understand that their toughest battles are fought away from public attention.

According to Nehwal, injuries test not only physical strength but also confidence, patience, and determination. She noted that recovery requires discipline, belief, and strong support, making the campaign personally meaningful. She added that every successful comeback begins long before an athlete returns to competition, and true champions are shaped during the recovery process.

Weightlifting star and Olympic medallist Mirabai Chanu also joins the campaign, reinforcing the message that setbacks are temporary and can become stepping stones to future success.

Partnership Reflects Niva Bupa’s Healthcare Vision

Speaking about the collaboration, Nimish Agrawal, Director – Digital Business Unit and Chief Marketing Officer at Niva Bupa Health Insurance, said the partnership with the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games reflects the company’s belief that people can return stronger after facing health setbacks.

He said every athlete participating in the Commonwealth Games has overcome challenges such as injuries, defeats, or moments of self-doubt before reaching the international stage. According to him, the medal is only the final outcome, while the real story lies in the determination shown during recovery.

Agrawal added that the same spirit is visible in the lives of millions of customers who recover from surgeries, accidents, and critical illnesses. Through the ‘Setback se Comeback Tak’ campaign, the company hopes to celebrate these journeys and reinforce the importance of quality healthcare and dependable support systems in helping people reclaim their lives.

Millions of Claims Supported Across India

Highlighting its role in healthcare, Niva Bupa said it has supported customers through more than 37 lakh insurance claims over the last five financial years, with claim payouts amounting to nearly ₹14,000 crore.

The company stated that these experiences have reinforced its commitment to standing beside policyholders during difficult times and ensuring they receive timely medical support. Rather than focusing solely on financial assistance, the insurer aims to promote overall confidence and continuity throughout the recovery journey.

Officials said the campaign reflects the company’s broader philosophy that health insurance is not just about covering medical expenses but about helping individuals return to normal life with peace of mind.

Digital Campaign Ahead of Glasgow 2026

Niva Bupa plans to promote the campaign extensively through digital platforms and social media in the months leading up to the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

The initiative is expected to feature athlete stories, customer experiences, and awareness messages encouraging people to prioritize health preparedness and recovery. By connecting sporting achievements with real-life health journeys, the company hopes to make conversations around insurance and recovery more relatable for the public.

The campaign also aligns with the company’s brand philosophy, “Zindagi Ko Claim Kar Le,” which encourages individuals to live confidently while knowing they have dependable healthcare support when needed.

Strong Presence in India’s Health Insurance Sector

As of March 31, 2026, Niva Bupa operates more than 210 branches across India and serves customers through an extensive distribution network comprising over 2.4 lakh agents, nearly 600 brokers, and more than 120 bancassurance and corporate agency partners.

The company currently provides health insurance coverage to over 25 million people and has a network of more than 10,500 empanelled hospitals nationwide. It also reported maintaining a claim settlement ratio exceeding 90% consistently over the past five financial years.

With a workforce of over 10,100 employees, Niva Bupa has also been recognized as a Great Place to Work for six consecutive years, reflecting its continued focus on employee engagement and customer service.

Through its partnership with the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games and the launch of the ‘Setback se Comeback Tak’ campaign, Niva Bupa aims to strengthen public awareness about the importance of health protection, resilience, and recovery while reinforcing the message that every comeback deserves to be celebrated.
