The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for several parts of North India as an active monsoon system is expected to bring extremely heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds over the next few days. Authorities have warned residents to remain alert as intense rainfall could trigger flash floods, landslides, waterlogging, and disruptions to road, rail, and air transport.
According to the IMD, states including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and parts of Northeast India are likely to witness widespread rainfall activity.
