Shah said Doval’s unmatched experience and commitment to the nation have played a vital role in shaping several key national security decisions taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Highlighting Doval’s distinguished career, Shah said the veteran intelligence officer has devoted his life to protecting the country and has become one of India’s most respected security strategists. He described the Lokmanya Tilak National Award as a fitting recognition for Doval’s extraordinary service to the nation.

“Shri Ajit Doval’s extensive experience has been instrumental in shaping many of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decisions on national security,” Shah said.
According to the Home Minister, Doval has played a significant role in formulating security strategies that have enhanced India’s preparedness against both internal and external threats.
Award Recognises Lifetime Service To The Nation
Shah said that awards are much more than medals, as they honour extraordinary individuals and inspire future generations to dedicate themselves to national service.

He stated that people who make exceptional contributions rise above personal achievements and become enduring symbols of inspiration. Honouring such personalities, he added, is society’s responsibility because it encourages others to follow their example.
The Home Minister said conferring the Lokmanya Tilak National Award on Ajit Doval would inspire every Indian committed to serving the nation.
From Intelligence Officer To India’s Longest-Serving NSA
Tracing Doval’s career, Shah said he joined the Intelligence Bureau (IB) in 1972 and remained actively involved in tackling some of India’s toughest security challenges before eventually becoming the Director of the agency.
He noted that Doval served in conflict-sensitive regions, including the Northeast, Sikkim, Jammu and Kashmir, and Punjab, where he handled several complex assignments. Shah also highlighted Doval’s six-year posting in Pakistan during a critical period, describing his contribution to India’s national security as invaluable.
According to Shah, Doval’s experience across multiple security fronts has given him unmatched expertise in intelligence and strategic affairs.
Gujarat Investigation Mentioned As Key Example
Amit Shah also recalled the Ahmedabad serial bomb blast investigation during Narendra Modi’s tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister.
He said that after the blasts, Modi instructed the Gujarat Police not only to investigate the Ahmedabad attacks but also to examine links with bomb blasts that had taken place across the country.
Shah said Ajit Doval was asked to work closely with the Gujarat Police during the investigation. The coordinated effort eventually helped solve the Ahmedabad serial bomb blasts as well as 13 other bomb blast cases across India.
He described the investigation as an example of effective coordination between intelligence agencies and state police forces.
Strengthening India’s Security Framework
The Home Minister said that after Narendra Modi became Prime Minister in 2014, Ajit Doval was appointed National Security Advisor, a position he continues to hold, making him India’s longest-serving NSA.
