Prime Minister Narendra Modi on friday delivered a strong message of forgiveness, compassion and national unity, urging citizens to guide young people who have gone astray instead of responding with anger or punishment. The remarks came in the backdrop of the recent incident at Jantar Mantar, where offensive slogans and abusive language were reportedly directed at the Prime Minister and his late mother. While acknowledging that such behaviour had caused widespread anger, PM Modi said that young people often make mistakes and deserve an opportunity to learn, improve and rebuild their lives.

In his message, the Prime Minister said that responding to hatred with more hostility would not benefit society. Instead, he encouraged people to extend compassion to those who have made mistakes, particularly young individuals who may have lost their way.
