China has expressed support for strengthening cooperation among India, Russia and China, describing the trilateral relationship as an important factor in maintaining global peace, security and stability. Beijing’s remarks have renewed attention on the Russia-India-China (RIC) framework at a time of shifting geopolitical alignments and increasing global uncertainty.

Speaking on the issue, Chinese officials emphasized that the three major Eurasian powers share significant responsibilities in promoting regional and international stability. According to Beijing, enhanced engagement among the three nations could contribute positively to global governance, economic cooperation and multilateral diplomacy.

The statement comes amid ongoing discussions about the future of the RIC mechanism, a dialogue platform that brings together three of the world’s most influential countries. China argued that stronger coordination within the grouping would help address common challenges and strengthen efforts toward a multipolar international order.

The RIC framework was originally conceived as a platform for consultation and cooperation among the three countries on strategic, political and economic issues. Over the years, it has served as a forum for discussions on regional security, counterterrorism, global governance reforms and economic development. While bilateral ties among the three countries have evolved differently, the grouping continues to be viewed as a significant diplomatic channel.

China’s endorsement of stronger RIC cooperation comes against the backdrop of its expanding strategic partnership with Russia. Recent meetings between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin have highlighted their commitment to deeper cooperation in trade, energy and international affairs. Both leaders have repeatedly described their relationship as a stabilizing force in global politics.

At the same time, Beijing has signaled its willingness to engage with multiple global powers and present itself as a supporter of stability and multilateralism. Analysts note that China sees platforms such as RIC as useful mechanisms for fostering dialogue among major emerging powers and balancing global geopolitical tensions.

For India, the RIC format remains one among several multilateral engagements. New Delhi has continued to pursue an independent foreign policy approach while maintaining strategic relations with both Moscow and Beijing. India and Russia share longstanding ties in areas such as defence, energy and trade, while India and China continue to engage through diplomatic and economic channels despite unresolved border-related issues.

Observers believe Beijing’s latest comments may be aimed at reviving momentum within the RIC grouping as global power dynamics continue to evolve. Supporters of the framework argue that cooperation among the three countries could help strengthen multilateral institutions and create greater coordination on international challenges, including economic recovery, energy security and regional stability.

The renewed focus on RIC also comes at a time when countries are increasingly exploring new partnerships and strategic arrangements to navigate a rapidly changing international landscape. With India, Russia and China collectively representing a significant share of the world’s population, economic output and geopolitical influence, developments within the trilateral framework are likely to attract considerable international attention.

While no major policy announcements accompanied China’s remarks, the statement underscores Beijing’s view that stronger cooperation among India, Russia and China could play a constructive role in shaping a more stable and balanced global order.
