A strong message of women’s empowerment, scientific ambition and global cooperation emerged in Greater Noida as Veronique Herminie, First Lady of Seychelles, visited Mission Shaktisat and interacted with young girl scientists participating in the international initiative.
The visit took place during Mission Shaktisat’s 19th Foundation Day and the Global Women Leadership and Diplomacy Summit at Gautam Buddha Nagar University. Her presence brought an international dimension to an initiative focused on encouraging girls to pursue science, technology, space research and leadership.
Known affectionately in Seychelles as the ‘Mother of Seychelles’, Herminie met the team behind Mission Shaktisat and its leader, popularly referred to as ‘Space Mom’. Her interaction with young participants centred on the importance of creating opportunities for girls to discover their potential and pursue ambitious careers in science and technology.
Herminie stressed that access to education, mentorship and encouragement can help girls overcome barriers and reach new heights. Her message resonated particularly strongly with participants who aspire to build careers in scientific research and space exploration.
Girls encouraged to dream beyond Earth
The central message of the programme was that young women should not place limits on their ambitions. With the right support, they can contribute to major scientific achievements and become leaders in fields traditionally dominated by men.
The initiative uses space exploration as a powerful platform to encourage girls to develop scientific curiosity, technical abilities and confidence. Participants were encouraged to believe that their ambitions could take them from Earth to outer space and, eventually, even towards the Moon.

Mission Shaktiman builds global platform for girls
According to the organisers, Mission Shaktisat is among the world’s largest all-girls lunar mission initiatives. It aims to bring together girl scientists from more than 108 countries and provide them with a common international platform.
The programme focuses on developing scientific thinking, technical knowledge and leadership capabilities among young women. Its international character also seeks to demonstrate how science can bring together young people from different countries around a shared vision of exploration and innovation.
The organisers describe the initiative as a major effort to strengthen women’s participation in space science and technology. Rather than limiting opportunities to a particular country or region, Mission Shaktisat aims to create a global network of young women interested in the future of space exploration.
Seychelles’ support strengthens the initiative
Herminie’s visit was viewed by organisers as an important expression of international encouragement for Mission Shaktisat. Her participation added a prominent global voice to the initiative and reinforced its message about women’s leadership and scientific empowerment.

Mission Shaktisat is led by Dr. Mrs. Kesan and is associated with Space Kidz India, an organisation that works to provide young people with opportunities to engage with space science and technology.
The organisation has developed initiatives aimed at making science and space education more accessible to students while encouraging them to participate in practical scientific projects.
According to organisers, Space Kidz India has experience in the development and launch of 27 satellite missions and has established a distinct presence in student-led space science initiatives.
Mission Shaktisat represents an expansion of this work onto a wider international platform, bringing together young women from across the world around the common themes of science, technology, innovation and space exploration.
A global vision for the next generation
