NEW DELHI: The Election Commission (EC) has initiated formal proceedings in the escalating dispute over the control of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), issuing notices to the rival factions led by Mamata Banerjee and Ritabrata Banerjee. Both camps have been directed to submit their responses by July 6, as the constitutional body begins examining competing claims over the party’s official name and election symbol.
Election Commission Invokes Symbol Dispute Process
The notices mark a significant step in the EC’s effort to determine which faction is entitled to use the Trinamool Congress identity and its election symbol.
