NEW DELHI: The newly established office of the Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation at 9 Ashoka Road was inaugurated in a grand ceremony attended by senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, cultural personalities, and distinguished guests. The event was led by BJP National President Nitin Nabin and featured the unveiling of a spectacular three-dimensional portrait of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee created by renowned artist Mahesh Vaishnav.
The programme began with traditional rituals, including a Mahayagya, havan, and Vedic chanting, creating a spiritual atmosphere at the foundation premises. Several senior leaders, including Foundation Director Vinay Singh Bharat, Secretary P.K. Satpathy, Mahendra Pandya, MP Manoj Tiwari, and former Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi, were present during the celebrations.
The highlight of the event was the unveiling of the large wall mural installed at the main entrance of the building. The portrait of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee was inaugurated with floral tributes, patriotic slogans, and ceremonial chants.

Addressing the gathering, Nitin Nabin described Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee as a visionary educationist and a major ideological force behind modern nationalist thought. He also praised Mahesh Vaishnav’s artistic skills, saying the mural was more than a painting and represented the spirit of nationalism.
He commended the artist for promoting India’s Sanatan heritage and cultural values through his work, adding that artists who preserve Indian traditions through creative expression are a valuable asset to the nation.
Mahesh Vaishnav has gained recognition for his unique “Godhan Kala” technique, an eco-friendly art form that uses processed cow dung combined with advanced three-dimensional effects. Over the years, he has created portraits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Nitin Nabin, and several religious subjects that have drawn appreciation both in India and abroad.
According to Vaishnav, the portrait of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee took nearly two months of continuous effort and detailed craftsmanship to complete.
During the event, the artist also presented Nitin Nabin with a bouquet and gifted him a specially designed 3D artwork featuring him alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The innovative blend of traditional materials and modern techniques impressed guests and senior leaders present at the ceremony.
Mahesh Vaishnav Expresses Gratitude
Speaking on the occasion, Mahesh Vaishnav said the event marked one of the proudest moments of his life. He extended special thanks to Foundation Director Vinay Singh Bharat for placing faith in his artistic abilities and offering him the opportunity to contribute to a project dedicated to preserving the legacy of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee.
He said art can become a powerful medium to connect people with India’s civilisational heritage and pledged to continue promoting Indian culture through his unique creations.
