A major anti-terror operation in West Bengal has triggered fresh security concerns after a man allegedly linked to the banned Pakistan-based terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) was arrested from Bardhaman town in Purba Bardhaman district. The arrest has prompted an intensive investigation by state and central security agencies, which are now examining whether the suspect was acting alone or was part of a larger sleeper cell operating in the region.
Arrest follows intelligence-based operation
According to investigators, the suspect was apprehended during a coordinated operation based on intelligence inputs regarding his alleged links with Jaish-e-Mohammed. Officials conducted searches at the location where he had been staying and seized several electronic devices and documents for forensic examination.
