The Jammu and Kashmir administration has issued a fresh advisory for devotees participating in the annual Amarnath Yatra, urging pilgrims to strictly comply with registration rules, official travel schedules, and safety protocols. The advisory comes amid a heavy influx of pilgrims and changing weather conditions, with authorities emphasizing that only registered yatris will be allowed to proceed according to their allotted dates.
Officials said the advisory has been issued to ensure the smooth management of the pilgrimage and to safeguard the health and security of thousands of devotees visiting the holy cave shrine in the Himalayas. The administration has appealed to pilgrims not to attempt the journey without valid registration or outside their designated travel schedule.
Registered Pilgrims Only
According to the latest advisory, devotees must carry valid registration documents, compulsory health certificates, and government-issued identity cards throughout the journey. Authorities have warned that unregistered pilgrims will not be permitted to move towards the base camps or the shrine.
Officials stressed that the registration system helps regulate the daily number of pilgrims on both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes. This ensures better crowd management, adequate medical support, and enhanced security arrangements.
The administration has requested those who have not secured registration to postpone their visit instead of travelling to Jammu and Kashmir without authorization.
Safety Remains Top Priority
The advisory also highlights the importance of following instructions issued by police, security agencies, disaster management teams, and shrine board officials.
Pilgrims have been advised not to deviate from designated routes, avoid unnecessary halts in vulnerable areas, and cooperate with officials deployed along the yatra route.
Authorities have also asked devotees to remain alert and report any suspicious activity immediately to security personnel stationed at various locations.
Medical teams, emergency response units, and rescue personnel have been deployed throughout the pilgrimage route to respond quickly to any emergency.
Weather Conditions Being Closely Monitored
The administration has warned that weather conditions in the Kashmir Himalayas can change rapidly, especially during the monsoon season.
Pilgrims have been advised to monitor official weather updates before beginning each stage of the journey and avoid travelling during heavy rainfall or adverse conditions.
Recent forecasts have indicated intermittent rain and thunderstorms across several parts of Jammu and Kashmir, increasing the possibility of slippery trekking routes and temporary disruptions.
Officials said decisions regarding movement of pilgrims may be revised depending on weather forecasts and road conditions to ensure public safety.
Health Precautions for Devotees
Since the Amarnath cave shrine is situated at a high altitude, authorities have urged pilgrims to take necessary health precautions before beginning the trek.
Devotees suffering from heart disease, respiratory illness, high blood pressure, or other serious medical conditions have been advised to consult doctors before undertaking the pilgrimage.
Pilgrims have also been asked to stay hydrated, carry essential medicines, wear warm clothing, and avoid overexertion during the trek.
Medical camps equipped with oxygen support and emergency facilities have been established at multiple locations along both pilgrimage routes.
Traffic and Travel Guidelines
The administration has reminded pilgrims to travel only in officially authorized convoys and adhere to traffic advisories issued for the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
Authorities said movement timings have been carefully planned to facilitate safe passage for pilgrims while ensuring smooth traffic management.
Pilgrims travelling by private vehicles have also been advised to comply with convoy regulations and instructions issued by traffic police.
Shrine Board Appeals for Cooperation
The Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board and the Jammu and Kashmir administration have appealed to devotees to extend full cooperation with officials and volunteers managing the yatra.
They said disciplined participation by pilgrims would help ensure a peaceful, secure, and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage for everyone.
The annual Amarnath Yatra, which began on July 3, will continue until August 28, drawing lakhs of devotees from across India to the revered cave shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. Authorities have reiterated that safety remains their highest priority and urged pilgrims to rely only on official advisories for updates regarding weather, travel, and security.
