Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 brought patriotism, creativity and national pride to the heart of the capital as New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal inaugurated the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 – Art Exhibition & Live Painting Workshop’ at the Janpath Subway Art Gallery in Connaught Place on Tuesday.
Organised in collaboration with the Nav Siddhartha Art Group, the 10-day exhibition has transformed a prominent public space into a vibrant platform celebrating India’s national identity, cultural heritage and artistic talent. The initiative draws inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign and the broader vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Patriotism Meets Art at Janpath Subway
The exhibition was inaugurated after the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, marking the beginning of a special artistic celebration ahead of India’s Independence Day festivities.
Speaking at the event, Chahal highlighted the importance of connecting national development with cultural consciousness and public participation. He said that the journey towards a developed India should not be viewed only through the lens of economic growth, but must also include a strong sense of heritage, national pride, creativity and collective responsibility.
The exhibition showcases more than 50 artworks created by a group of distinguished artists. The paintings and sculptures explore themes associated with the Tricolour, India’s freedom struggle, cultural diversity, unity and the aspirations of a confident nation.
Under the theme “Art • Expression • Patriotism,” the exhibition presents the national flag not simply as a symbol, but as a powerful source of artistic inspiration.
Tiranga Colours Become a Canvas of National Pride
One of the major attractions of the event is the Live Painting Workshop, where participating artists will create works inspired by patriotism using the colours of the Indian National Flag — saffron, white and green, along with the blue associated with the Ashoka Chakra.
The live demonstrations are designed to give visitors an opportunity to witness the creative process and understand how artists translate ideas of freedom, unity and national pride into visual forms.
According to NDMC, the initiative aims to make cultural experiences more accessible by taking art beyond conventional galleries and bringing it directly into a busy public environment.
The Janpath Subway, located in the heart of Connaught Place, has consequently been turned into a cultural destination where commuters, families, students, tourists and art enthusiasts can engage with creative expressions of patriotism.
Kuljeet Singh Chahal Encourages Young Artists
Interacting with young artists at the event, Chahal described them as important creative ambassadors of a developed and culturally confident India.
He encouraged students, aspiring artists and young art enthusiasts to participate in cultural initiatives and use creativity as a means of expressing their ideas, emotions and connection with the country.

Chahal stressed that such platforms can provide emerging artists with greater visibility while helping younger generations develop a deeper connection with India’s heritage and national values.
He also linked the encouragement of young creative talent with the long-term objective of building a culturally confident India under the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
“The Tiranga is not merely our national flag; it is a symbol of our collective pride, aspirations and unity,” Chahal said. He added that the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign has helped strengthen citizens’ emotional connection with the national flag and that the exhibition gives artists an opportunity to express those emotions through colours and creativity.
NDMC Revives Subway Art Exhibition Tradition
The initiative also marks the revival of NDMC’s subway exhibition programme.
NDMC Advisor (Art & Culture) Harshwardhan Sharma said the civic body had organised art exhibitions in its subways in 2023, but the practice was subsequently discontinued for various reasons.
The latest exhibition seeks to revive that tradition and strengthen the role of public spaces in promoting art and culture.
The collaboration with Nav Siddhartha Art Group is aimed at creating meaningful opportunities for artists while making public spaces more visually engaging and culturally enriching.
Senior and Emerging Artists Participate
The exhibition brings together artists from painting and sculpture backgrounds, adding diversity to the artistic presentation.
Among the participating artists are Suresh Kumar, Asurvedh, Amit Dutt, Onkar Singh, Prasanth A.V., Dinesh Kumar Ram, K.K. Kamra, P.K. Chhabra, Arup K. Vishwas, Rattan Singh, Praveen Upadhyay, Vimal Chand, Rakesh Kumar, Rajeev Kumar, Roop Chand, Anita Malik and Rajesh Kumar Harit.
Their works explore India’s cultural heritage, national identity, the freedom movement, contemporary aspirations and the emotional relationship between citizens and the Tricolour.
The combination of static artworks and live demonstrations is expected to provide visitors with a varied experience of artistic expression.
Har Ghar Tiranga Exhibition Open Till August 20
NDMC Director (Art & Culture) Rajesh Kumar Shah said the exhibition will remain open to the public from August 11 to August 20, 2026, between 11 AM and 7 PM.
Citizens, families, students, tourists and art lovers have been invited to visit the Janpath Subway Art Gallery and experience the exhibition.
The civic body said public participation will not only strengthen the message of Har Ghar Tiranga but also encourage participating artists to continue contributing to India’s cultural and creative landscape.
A large number of NDMC officials, senior artists, young artists and college students attended the inauguration.
The initiative underlines NDMC’s broader effort to transform public spaces into accessible cultural platforms.
