NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta carried out a surprise inspection of several key transport-related facilities in Burari on Tuesday, reviewing public service delivery and directing officials to enhance citizen-centric infrastructure and administrative efficiency.
During the visit, the Chief Minister inspected the District Transport Office (DTO), Vehicle Inspection Unit, Vehicle Training Institute, and the Automated Testing Station (ATS). She assessed the quality of services being provided to the public and interacted with officials regarding the functioning of the facilities.
Officials briefed the Chief Minister on ongoing operations, infrastructure development, and the status of pending projects. Special attention was given to the progress of the Automated Testing Station, which is expected to play a significant role in improving vehicle fitness testing and streamlining transport-related services.
Expressing concern over delays, Gupta instructed concerned departments to ensure that the ATS project is completed within the prescribed timeline. She emphasized the need for strict monitoring and timely execution of public infrastructure projects to prevent inconvenience to residents.
The Chief Minister also reviewed arrangements for visitors and applicants at the transport facilities. She directed authorities to immediately address shortcomings and improve amenities for citizens visiting the offices. The focus, she said, should remain on reducing waiting times, improving transparency, and ensuring hassle-free access to government services.
During the inspection, Gupta stressed the importance of accountability in governance and called upon officials to maintain high standards of efficiency. She said government departments must work with a service-oriented approach and prioritize the needs of citizens.
According to officials, the Delhi Government is working to modernize transport-related infrastructure and strengthen mechanisms that improve transparency in vehicle registration, inspection, licensing, and other public services.
The Chief Minister reiterated that her government is committed to delivering efficient, transparent, and time-bound services. She emphasized that citizens should remain at the center of governance and that every department must be accountable for its performance.
The surprise visit is part of the Delhi Government’s broader effort to monitor ground-level implementation of projects and ensure that public services function effectively across the national capital.
