NEW DELHI: Commuters in the national capital are expected to face another day of travel disruptions as the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) continues restrictions for the fourth consecutive day due to the ongoing CJP protest near Jantar Mantar. Authorities have announced that 18 Metro stations across central Delhi will remain closed from 7:30 a.m. until further notice as security arrangements remain in place.

Metro Closures Continue to Affect Thousands of Daily Commuters

The extended closure of several key Metro stations is expected to impact office-goers, students, tourists, and other daily passengers travelling through central Delhi. While train services will continue to operate through the affected sections, passengers will not be allowed to enter or exit at the closed stations.

Interchange facilities are expected to remain available at select stations, allowing passengers to switch lines without leaving the station premises. However, commuters have been advised to plan their journeys in advance and use alternative routes wherever possible.

The restrictions have been imposed in view of the ongoing demonstrations near Jantar Mantar, where protesters have continued their agitation over issues linked to examination irregularities. Security personnel have been deployed in large numbers across central Delhi to prevent any untoward incidents and maintain public order.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, with Delhi Police coordinating security arrangements around the protest venue. Barricades have also been placed on several roads surrounding the area to regulate movement and ensure public safety.

Traffic Advisory Issued for Central Delhi

The Delhi Traffic Police has also issued an advisory asking residents and commuters to avoid unnecessary travel through parts of central Delhi during the protest period. Motorists have been encouraged to use alternate routes to minimize delays caused by traffic diversions and security checks.

Officials stated that movement on several roads around Jantar Mantar, Parliament Street, and adjoining areas may remain slow because of the deployment of security forces and crowd management measures. Public transport users have been advised to check the latest updates before starting their journey.

Authorities Focus on Maintaining Law and Order

Law enforcement agencies have emphasized that the restrictions are precautionary and aimed at ensuring public safety while allowing the protest to remain peaceful. Additional police personnel, rapid response teams, and surveillance measures have been deployed across sensitive locations.

Officials have appealed to demonstrators to cooperate with security agencies and maintain peace throughout the protest. They have also urged commuters to remain patient and follow official advisories issued by the Delhi Metro and Delhi Traffic Police.

Public Services Experience Ripple Effect

The ongoing restrictions have also affected businesses and services operating in central Delhi. Delivery services, local shops, and commercial establishments near Jantar Mantar have reported disruptions due to restricted movement and limited public access.

Residents in the area have experienced delays in deliveries and transportation as authorities continue to regulate access to sensitive zones. Despite these inconveniences, officials maintain that public safety remains the top priority during the ongoing demonstrations.

Commuters Asked to Stay Updated

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has advised passengers to regularly monitor official announcements regarding station closures and operational changes. Since restrictions may be modified depending on the security assessment, commuters are encouraged to verify the status of their intended stations before leaving home.

Transport experts recommend allowing additional travel time, considering alternative modes of transport, and avoiding the affected areas unless absolutely necessary. Many commuters have already adjusted their schedules to cope with the extended restrictions.

Protest Continues Amid Ongoing Dialogue

The demonstrations have continued for several days, with protesters maintaining their demands while discussions with authorities remain underway. The government has sought additional time to respond to key demands raised by protest leaders, even as security arrangements remain in force across central Delhi.

As the situation develops, authorities are expected to review the security scenario on a regular basis before deciding whether the Metro restrictions should continue or be relaxed. Until then, commuters are likely to experience disruptions in one of Delhi’s busiest transport corridors while officials balance public convenience with law and order requirements.
