Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) on Thursday warned that any further attacks against the country would trigger a stronger military response, following fresh tensions with the United States in the Gulf region.
In a statement issued hours after an alleged US strike near Bandar Abbas Airport, the IRGC said Iranian forces had targeted the American air base from which the attack was launched.
According to the statement, the retaliatory operation was carried out at around 4:50 a.m. local time after US forces reportedly attacked a site on the outskirts of Bandar Abbas earlier in the day.
The IRGC described the strike as a “serious warning” to Washington, stressing that no act of aggression against Iran would remain unanswered.
“The enemy should know that no aggression will go unanswered,” the statement said, adding that if attacks were repeated, Iran’s military response would be “more decisive.”
The powerful military force also warned that responsibility for any future escalation would rest with the “aggressor.”
The exchange marks the latest escalation in tensions between Tehran and Washington despite ongoing diplomatic efforts in Qatar aimed at preventing a wider regional conflict.
Bandar Abbas, located near the Strait of Hormuz, is considered one of Iran’s most strategically important military and commercial hubs. The region has witnessed heightened military activity in recent weeks amid fears of renewed confrontation between the two countries.
Neither the United States nor Iranian authorities immediately released details on the extent of damage or possible casualties resulting from the reported strikes.
