AYODHYA: The alleged misappropriation of donations collected at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya has taken a significant legal turn after an FIR was registered against eight individuals based on the findings of a Special Investigation Team (SIT). The case has drawn widespread attention as authorities intensify efforts to ensure transparency in the management of temple funds.

SIT Report Leads to Criminal Case

The FIR was filed after the SIT submitted its preliminary report to the Uttar Pradesh government. The investigation team was constituted to examine allegations of financial irregularities involving donations made by devotees at the Ram Temple. Based on its findings, the team recommended criminal action, prompting police to register a formal case.

Complaint Filed by Temple Trust Representative

The FIR was registered based on a complaint filed by Krishna Mohan, a member of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, after the Special Investigation Team (SIT), in its preliminary findings, recommended initiating legal action.

Eight Accused Named in FIR

Police have named eight individuals in the FIR. They have been booked under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges related to criminal breach of trust, theft, conspiracy and possession of suspected stolen property. Relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act have also been invoked during the investigation.

According to the FIR, eight individuals have been named as accused: Avinash Shukla, Anukalp Mishra, Lavkush Mishra, Manish Kumar Yadav, Karunesh Pandey, Ramashankar Mishra, Subhash Srivastava, and Ram Shankar Yadav, also known as Tinnu. The complaint further states that the involvement of several unidentified persons is also being investigated.

Arrests Made Soon After Registration of FIR

Following the registration of the case, Uttar Pradesh Police arrested all eight accused. Officials said the accused are being questioned, while investigators continue collecting documentary evidence, financial records and witness statements to establish the full sequence of events.

Investigation Focuses on Donation Management

The SIT examined the system used for collecting, storing and accounting for donations received from devotees. Investigators reportedly scrutinised financial records, cash-handling procedures and the responsibilities of those involved in managing the donation process to identify possible irregularities.

Government Assures Transparent Probe

The Uttar Pradesh government has assured that the investigation will be conducted fairly and without interference. Officials have stated that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found guilty, regardless of their position or role in the temple’s administrative system.

Political Reactions Intensify

The case has also triggered political reactions. Opposition leaders have demanded complete transparency in the investigation and called for accountability at every level. They have urged authorities to ensure that the probe reaches its logical conclusion without shielding any individual.

Public Trust at the Centre of Investigation

The Ram Temple receives donations from lakhs of devotees from across India and abroad. As a result, any allegation involving the handling of these funds carries immense public importance. Many observers believe that a transparent investigation is essential to preserve the faith of devotees and strengthen confidence in the institution’s financial management.

Further Investigation Underway

Police officials have indicated that the investigation is still at an early stage. Financial transactions, digital records and other evidence are being examined carefully. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of additional arrests or further legal action if fresh evidence emerges during the course of the probe.

Case to Remain Under Close Watch

With the FIR registered and the accused in custody, the investigation is expected to continue over the coming weeks. The findings of the probe will determine the extent of the alleged embezzlement and help establish accountability. The case is likely to remain under close public and legal scrutiny given the significance of the Ram Temple and the trust placed in its administration by millions of devotees.
