OnePlus has announced one of the biggest changes in its history by confirming that it will retire its OxygenOS software and transition to Oppo’s ColorOS 17. Alongside the software shift, the company has also revealed that it will stop launching new products and gradually end its operations in the United States, Canada, and Europe as part of a wider global restructuring.
The announcement marks the end of an era for OnePlus, a brand that built its reputation on offering premium smartphones with its lightweight and highly regarded OxygenOS experience. The company says the move is aimed at streamlining software development and improving the overall user experience by adopting a unified operating system across Oppo and OnePlus devices.
OxygenOS to be replaced by ColorOS 17
According to the company, future OnePlus smartphones will ship with ColorOS 17 instead of OxygenOS. Existing eligible devices will also receive the option to migrate to the new software platform through future updates.
OnePlus explained that maintaining separate software platforms has become increasingly challenging. By moving to a single operating system, it expects to deliver faster Android updates, stronger security support, and a more consistent software experience across devices.
The company added that users migrating to ColorOS 17 will continue to receive software support and future Android upgrades. Some reports also suggest users may be offered a rollback option during the transition period, although future updates would remain tied to ColorOS.
OnePlus to withdraw from Western markets
Along with the software announcement, OnePlus confirmed that it will no longer launch new smartphones or other products in the United States, Canada, and Europe.
The decision is part of a broader restructuring strategy that allows the company to focus resources on selected markets where it sees stronger long-term growth opportunities.
While new product launches will cease in these regions, OnePlus stated that existing customers will continue to receive warranty coverage, software updates, customer service, and after-sales support for their current devices.
India operations remain unchanged
OnePlus has clarified that the global restructuring will not affect its business in India.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to Indian consumers, stating that smartphone launches, software updates, customer support, warranty services, and retail operations will continue without disruption.

India remains one of OnePlus’ largest and most successful markets, and company executives stressed that customers in the country will continue receiving the same level of support despite the transition from OxygenOS to ColorOS.
