India on Wednesday issued a strong diplomatic rebuttal to Pakistan over its remarks on the so-called Youm-e-Istehsal, dismissing Islamabad’s statements as “politically absurd and futile attempts” to spread misinformation against the country. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reaffirmed that Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh are inseparable parts of India and asserted that Pakistan has no standing to comment on matters that fall entirely within India’s sovereign jurisdiction.

The response came through an official statement issued by MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal following media queries regarding comments made by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister on the occasion of the annual observance.

Rejects Pakistan’s Kashmir Narrative

In its statement, the Ministry of External Affairs categorically rejected Pakistan’s attempt to observe the so-called Youm-e-Istehsal, describing it as another effort to promote false narratives and anti-India propaganda.

The MEA said Pakistan’s repeated remarks on Jammu & Kashmir amount to “politically absurd and futile attempts” designed to mislead the international community and divert attention from its own domestic challenges.

New Delhi reiterated that such statements cannot alter the legal and constitutional reality of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, which remain integral and inalienable parts of the Republic of India.

The government also maintained that New Delhi’s position on the region has been consistent and unambiguous, leaving no room for external interference or politically motivated campaigns.

Constitutional Changes Are Internal Matter

The Ministry once again defended the constitutional decisions taken on August 5, 2019, when the Government of India revoked the special status of the former state of Jammu & Kashmir and reorganized it into the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

According to the MEA, these decisions were taken under the Constitution of India and are therefore purely domestic matters. It stressed that Pakistan has no locus standi to question or comment on these constitutional measures.

The government stated that the reforms introduced after 2019 have accelerated socio-economic development, strengthened democratic governance, improved infrastructure, and expanded opportunities for people across the region.

Officials highlighted that various development initiatives, enhanced public services, and greater grassroots participation have contributed to improved governance and public welfare in Jammu & Kashmir.

New Delhi asserted that these achievements reflect the government’s commitment to ensuring peace, stability, and inclusive development for all residents of the Union Territories.

Pakistan Accused of Deflecting Attention

The MEA also accused Pakistan of attempting to divert global attention away from its own internal challenges by repeatedly raising the Kashmir issue on international platforms.

According to the statement, Pakistan’s campaign is intended to distract from concerns surrounding its human rights record and its long-standing association with terrorism.

New Delhi further referred to developments in Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK), alleging that the region has witnessed restrictions on civil liberties, suppression of peaceful protests, and heavy-handed action by security forces.

The statement claimed that reports of targeted violence, arrests, and curbs on fundamental freedoms raise serious questions about the treatment of civilians in the territory under Pakistan’s control.

New Delhi argued that instead of making repeated allegations against India, Islamabad should focus on addressing the concerns of its own citizens and ensuring the protection of human rights within areas under its administration.

Call for Verifiable Action Against Terrorism

In one of the strongest parts of the statement, India urged Pakistan to take credible, verifiable, and irreversible action against terrorist networks operating from its soil.

The MEA said regional peace and stability cannot be achieved unless Pakistan dismantles terror infrastructure and ends support for cross-border terrorism.

India also reiterated its long-standing position that Pakistan must vacate all Indian territories under its illegal occupation.

The statement added that the international community is fully aware of Pakistan’s record and is unlikely to be influenced by what India described as orchestrated propaganda campaigns targeting New Delhi.

According to the MEA, genuine progress in bilateral relations requires concrete action against terrorism rather than repeated political rhetoric over Kashmir.

India Reaffirms Its Diplomatic Position

The latest statement reinforces India’s consistent diplomatic stance that Jammu & Kashmir remains an internal matter and that no foreign country has the authority to interfere in decisions taken under the Indian Constitution.

Since the constitutional changes of August 2019, New Delhi has repeatedly maintained that the reforms have strengthened governance, expanded democratic participation, and accelerated economic development in the region.

India has also consistently rejected Pakistan’s attempts to internationalize the Kashmir issue, emphasizing that sovereignty and territorial integrity are non-negotiable.

With its latest response, the Ministry of External Affairs has once again made it clear that Pakistan’s remarks will not influence India’s position. By describing Islamabad’s statements as “politically absurd and futile attempts,” New Delhi reaffirmed its determination to safeguard its constitutional decisions, defend its territorial integrity, and continue pursuing peace, development, and security in Jammu & Kashmir while calling on Pakistan to abandon propaganda and take meaningful action against terrorism.
