India is set to host one of the biggest international gatherings dedicated to the creative economy as the BRICS WAVES Bazaar takes place in Mumbai on August 6 and 7, 2026. Organised by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, the two-day event is expected to bring together more than 500 delegates from BRICS member and partner countries.
The event is designed to serve as a global marketplace where policymakers, filmmakers, content creators, broadcasters, investors, technology companies, startups, and cultural organisations can explore new opportunities for collaboration. Through discussions, networking, and business meetings, the Bazaar aims to strengthen creative partnerships while expanding business opportunities across international markets.
Strengthening BRICS Cooperation Through the Creative Economy
The BRICS WAVES Bazaar has been conceived as a platform that goes beyond traditional film and entertainment events. Its primary objective is to deepen cooperation among BRICS nations by encouraging dialogue, innovation, investment, and cross-border partnerships across the audiovisual and creative sectors.
The initiative aligns with India’s broader vision for its BRICS Presidency. While assuming the presidency, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that BRICS would represent “Building Resilience and Innovation for Cooperation and Sustainability.” He also emphasized that India’s leadership would continue promoting people-centric development and the interests of the Global South, similar to its approach during the G20 Presidency.
Reflecting this vision, the BRICS WAVES Bazaar aims to position creativity and culture as important drivers of economic growth while fostering stronger international ties among participating countries.
High-Level Conferences and Industry Dialogues
The two-day programme will feature an extensive lineup of keynote speeches, panel discussions, conferences, and networking sessions involving leading experts from across the creative industries.
Key discussions are expected to focus on subjects that are reshaping the global entertainment landscape, including international co-productions, content financing, intellectual property rights, digital transformation, emerging technologies, women-led entrepreneurship, public policy, and South-South cooperation.
These conversations are intended to encourage policy coordination while creating practical opportunities for business expansion and international collaboration.
Creators’ Hub to Showcase Innovation
One of the event’s biggest attractions will be the Creators’ Hub, a dedicated exhibition space featuring creative enterprises, production studios, technology firms, startups, service providers, and industry organisations.

The exhibition will allow participants to showcase innovative products, creative technologies, and business solutions while interacting directly with international delegates. The Creators’ Hub is expected to become a focal point for discovering emerging trends and identifying potential business collaborations.
For startups and technology companies, the exhibition offers an opportunity to present cutting-edge solutions that can support content creation, distribution, production, and digital media innovation.
Curated Business Meetings to Boost Global Partnerships
Another major highlight of the BRICS WAVES Bazaar will be its structured Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings. These carefully curated sessions are designed to connect producers, broadcasters, OTT platforms, investors, distributors, government agencies, technology providers, and creative entrepreneurs.
The meetings will focus on exploring co-production opportunities, content acquisition, investment proposals, market expansion strategies, technology collaborations, and international partnerships.

Organisers believe these targeted interactions will help transform conversations into concrete business agreements while strengthening commercial relationships among BRICS nations.
India’s Creative Economy Takes Centre Stage
India has increasingly positioned its creative industries as an important contributor to economic growth, employment generation, innovation, and entrepreneurship. The BRICS WAVES Bazaar reflects this commitment by providing a platform where both public and private stakeholders can collaborate on long-term development initiatives.
Government representatives, film commissions, production houses, streaming services, broadcasters, cultural institutions, technology firms, startups, and investors are all expected to participate, making the event one of the largest creative economy gatherings organised under the BRICS framework.
By bringing together multiple sectors of the creative ecosystem under one roof, the Bazaar seeks to unlock fresh opportunities for investment, trade, skill development, and cultural exchange.
Expanding India’s Global Creative Leadership
The BRICS WAVES Bazaar also represents India’s growing ambition to become a leading global hub for content creation and creative entrepreneurship. As digital platforms continue transforming entertainment and media industries worldwide, international cooperation has become increasingly important for expanding markets and fostering innovation.
The event is expected to generate valuable partnerships that extend beyond film production into technology, animation, gaming, digital media, broadcasting, and cultural industries.
With participation from leading industry stakeholders and policymakers across BRICS nations, the Mumbai gathering is expected to strengthen India’s role in shaping the future of the global creative economy while encouraging sustainable and inclusive growth across partner countries.
