NEW DELHI: The Centre has once again appealed to the leaders of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) to hold talks, marking the fourth formal invitation for dialogue amid the continuing nationwide agitation over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations. The move comes as protests demanding accountability and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan continue to intensify in the national capital and several other parts of the country.
Government Extends Fourth Invitation
Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh confirmed that the Centre has sent four separate proposals to CJP representatives since the previous day, expressing its willingness to engage in discussions. According to the minister, the government is prepared to meet the protest leaders either at the office or residence of BJP national president and Union Minister J.P. Nadda in an effort to find a peaceful solution.
The Centre has maintained that dialogue remains the most effective way to resolve the ongoing deadlock and has urged the protesters to participate in discussions instead of prolonging the agitation.
Protesters Remain Firm on Demands
Despite repeated invitations, CJP leaders have reportedly refused to end their protest, insisting that the government first address their key demands. The organisation has continued to seek the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and broader reforms in the examination system following allegations of paper leaks and administrative failures.
The protest movement, which initially began over alleged NEET-related irregularities, has expanded into a wider campaign against perceived flaws in India’s examination and recruitment processes.
Earlier Talks Failed to Break Deadlock
This is not the first attempt by the government to engage with the protesters. Earlier this week, representatives of the CJP met J.P. Nadda and submitted a written memorandum outlining their demands. Although both sides described the discussions as cordial, no agreement was reached.
Following that meeting, the government appealed to protesters to withdraw their sit-in and help restore normalcy. However, the CJP leadership maintained that the agitation would continue until concrete action was announced.
Political Tensions Continue
The prolonged protest has also triggered sharp political exchanges. Opposition parties have extended support to the movement, accusing the government of failing to protect students’ interests and demanding greater accountability over examination-related controversies.
Government leaders, meanwhile, have defended their response, arguing that swift action has already been taken against those allegedly involved in the examination irregularities. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated that the authorities had acted promptly and that the accused had been arrested, while also supporting continued dialogue with the protesters.
Security Tightened in Delhi
The ongoing demonstrations have resulted in heightened security arrangements across central Delhi. Police have maintained a strong deployment around protest sites to prevent violence and ensure law and order.

Recent clashes between protesters and security personnel have further increased tensions, prompting authorities to closely monitor the situation. The protests have also disrupted normal activity around Parliament during the Monsoon Session.
PM Announces Fast-Track Courts
Amid mounting pressure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently announced the establishment of fast-track courts for cases involving examination paper leaks. The announcement was presented as part of the government’s commitment to ensuring speedy justice and restoring public confidence in competitive examinations.
However, CJP leaders have maintained that judicial reforms alone are insufficient and insist that political accountability must accompany institutional changes. Protesters have continued to demand the removal of the Education Minister before considering any compromise.
Nationwide Protest Planned
Even as the Centre continues its outreach, the CJP has announced plans for a nationwide peaceful protest under the slogan “Every District. One Day. One Demand.” The campaign aims to mobilise students and civil society groups across India while maintaining that demonstrations should remain peaceful.
The organisation has appealed to supporters to continue raising concerns about examination reforms through democratic means while rejecting allegations that the movement has turned politically motivated.
Dialogue Still Possible
Government officials continue to express hope that negotiations can still resolve the impasse. Ministers have reiterated that the doors for discussion remain open and have encouraged protest leaders to return to the negotiating table.
With the Centre extending its fourth invitation and protesters remaining firm on their demands, the coming days are expected to determine whether dialogue can break the deadlock or whether the nationwide agitation will gather further momentum.
