NEW DELHI: The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has adopted a series of major resolutions during its two-day Central Managing Committee meeting held in New Delhi, outlining its priorities on family values, justice in the Swami Lakshmanananda Saraswati murder case, social harmony, and organisational expansion. The meeting concluded on July 20 after extensive discussions on issues that the organisation described as significant for society and the nation.
Senior office-bearers and members of the Central Managing Committee from across India attended the deliberations at Terapanth Bhawan in Chhatarpur, where four major resolutions were unanimously approved.
VHP Stresses Protection of India’s Family System
One of the central resolutions passed during the meeting focused on preserving and strengthening India’s traditional family system. The organisation described the family as the foundation of Indian society, saying it has historically played a vital role in maintaining social harmony, cultural values, and mutual responsibility among generations.
According to the resolution, the changing social environment presents new challenges that require discussion at both societal and governmental levels. The VHP expressed concern over certain judicial decisions that it believes have affected the traditional structure of families. These include the legal recognition of live-in relationships, the recognition of homosexuality, and judicial acceptance of extramarital relationships in certain legal contexts.
The organisation called for wider public debate on these issues and urged lawmakers to frame legislation that, in its view, would help protect the institution of the family. It also announced plans to launch a nationwide public awareness campaign aimed at promoting family education, stronger family relationships, and traditional family values.
The resolution said that preserving the family structure remains essential for ensuring social stability and cultural continuity in the country.
Demand for Fresh Probe into Swami Lakshmanananda Saraswati Murder Case
Another significant resolution centred on the murder of Swami Lakshmanananda Saraswati, who was killed in Kandhamal district of Odisha in 2008.
The VHP expressed concern over what it described as the disappearance of the inquiry commission’s report and the failure to make it public. The organisation said the report should be released and demanded that the entire case be investigated fairly and impartially by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
According to the resolution, bringing all facts related to the murder into the public domain is necessary to ensure justice and strengthen public confidence in the legal process.
The Parishad also reiterated its demand for a complete ban on religious conversions in Odisha, stating that the issue should be addressed through appropriate legal measures.
The organisation maintained that transparency in the investigation and accountability in the case remain important from both legal and public perspectives.
Nationwide Programmes Planned for Sant Ravidas’ 650th Birth Anniversary
The meeting also adopted a special statement to commemorate the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Ravidas, one of India’s most revered Bhakti saints.
The VHP said Sant Ravidas’ teachings continue to inspire society through his message of equality, social harmony, spiritual awakening, and human dignity. It noted that his philosophy remains relevant in promoting unity across different sections of society.
To mark the anniversary, the organisation announced that various programmes would be organised across the country throughout the commemorative year. These activities are intended to spread Sant Ravidas’ message among people from diverse social backgrounds.

The Parishad said it would encourage greater public participation in events dedicated to the saint’s teachings while emphasising harmony, mutual respect, and inclusive social values.
Birth Centenary of Ashok Singhal to Guide Organisational Expansion
The Central Managing Committee also unveiled plans to observe the birth centenary year of former VHP international president Ashok Singhal, whose birth anniversary falls on September 27.
The organisation described Singhal as one of the principal leaders of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement and credited him with expanding the VHP into a nationwide organisation. Throughout the centenary year, the Parishad plans to organise programmes highlighting his contribution to Hindu society and various social initiatives.
As part of the commemorations, the VHP announced that organisational expansion would become one of its primary objectives. It also resolved to build a network of one crore supporters and well-wishers across the country.
The organisation further stated that it would intensify efforts in areas such as cow protection, promotion of cow-based agriculture, expansion of Vedic educational institutions, and the preservation of India’s traditional knowledge systems.
According to the resolution, these initiatives are intended to continue the vision associated with Ashok Singhal’s leadership while strengthening the organisation’s outreach at the grassroots level.
Meeting Ends with Commitment to Social and Cultural Initiatives
The two-day meeting concluded with the VHP reaffirming its commitment to what it described as strengthening Hindu society and safeguarding Sanatan values. The organisation said it would continue to participate in initiatives aimed at social welfare, cultural preservation, and national development.
The resolutions adopted during the meeting outline the VHP’s roadmap for the coming months, combining organisational expansion with campaigns focused on family values, social harmony, cultural heritage, and issues it considers important to public life.
With nationwide awareness programmes, commemorative events, and expansion plans now on its agenda, the organisation indicated that these resolutions will shape its activities across India in the year ahead.
