A 31-year-old Adobe software engineer was allegedly beaten to death at his Delhi home following a matrimonial dispute, with police detaining four people in connection with the shocking incident. The case has sparked concern over the violent escalation of a domestic disagreement in the Nihal Vihar area of outer Delhi.
Adobe Engineer Dies After Alleged Attack at Delhi Home
The victim, identified as Vinay Gupta, lived in Laxmi Park, Nihal Vihar, and worked as a software engineer with Adobe in Noida. He had been married to a 31-year-old woman for around three-and-a-half years. The couple had four-month-old twins, a boy and a girl.
According to police, a dispute between Gupta and his wife began on Friday morning. His wife subsequently called members of her parental family to their residence. The relatives allegedly reached the house and assaulted Gupta during the confrontation.
Gupta suffered severe injuries in the alleged assault and later died. Police have identified and detained four people suspected of involvement, while investigators continue to establish the precise role of each person and the circumstances that led to the confrontation.
Family Alleges Brutal Assault
Gupta’s family has alleged that what began as a domestic disagreement quickly turned into a violent attack. His parents reportedly witnessed the assault and attempted to intervene.
According to accounts given by the family, Gupta was allegedly attacked by several members of his wife’s family inside the house. His mother claimed that he was grabbed, strangled and repeatedly assaulted before being thrown to the ground. The family further alleged that he was struck on his chest during the attack.
Gupta’s father reportedly initially believed that the relatives had arrived to discuss the matrimonial disagreement and resolve the matter. However, the family alleged that the situation suddenly became violent after Gupta entered the scene.
His parents said they tried to protect him but were unable to stop the alleged assault. Gupta’s father also reportedly suffered an injury to his thumb while attempting to intervene.
Dispute Reportedly Started Over Child’s Medicine
According to Gupta’s family, the immediate disagreement was reportedly linked to an issue involving medicine for one of the couple’s children.
The family alleged that the argument intensified after Gupta spoke to his wife in a raised voice. His wife then left the residence and allegedly returned shortly afterwards with members of her parental family.

The victim’s relatives have claimed that several members of the woman’s family were present during the alleged assault. They have also raised questions about whether the confrontation was planned, although such allegations remain subject to police investigation.
CCTV Footage Under Police Scanner
The circumstances surrounding the CCTV cameras at the residence have also become part of the allegations made by Gupta’s family.
They claimed that the cameras were switched off around the time of the incident and questioned whether this was deliberate. Separately, investigators are examining available footage and other evidence collected from the location to reconstruct the sequence of events.
A forensic team visited the residence and collected evidence as part of the investigation. Police are examining the available material and questioning those detained to determine exactly what happened inside the house.
Four People Detained in Murder Case
Delhi Police have initiated proceedings under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), relating to murder, along with Section 3(5) concerning acts carried out with common intention. Four people have been detained in connection with the case, according to police.
Another report identified the detained suspects as Gupta’s wife, her two brothers and another accused. Police are questioning them to determine their individual roles in the alleged assault.
Police are now investigating what triggered the confrontation, how the alleged assault unfolded and what happened immediately afterwards.
Gupta’s family has described the incident as an extremely violent attack and alleged that several people were involved. They have also claimed that disagreements between the couple had existed for some time.
However, investigators are yet to establish the complete sequence of events and the exact circumstances surrounding Gupta’s death. The allegations made by the victim’s family will form part of the investigation, while the accused persons’ statements and forensic evidence will also be examined.
